Camino Real. Souvenirs from the Mayan soul

A journey through the traditional Mayan towns of northern Campeche.  Ancient road where the Mayan language still remains and sounds very loud.

Centuries-old traditions that survive in the hands and creativity of the Mayan soul: men and women of maize show us their ancient heritage and its undeniable and irreplaceable presence in the multicolored and multicultural landscape of Campeche.

Visiting: Mayan towns of  Hecelchakán, Calkiní, Bécal and Pomuch.

Pick up: 8:00 am.

  1. Meeting in the hotel lobby.
  2. Departure to Hecelchakán to taste the delicious cochinita pibil, famous throughout the region. Visit to the San Francisco church to know part of the history of the Franciscans in the Mayan world. Walk through the market to witness the permanence of Mayan language, traditions and customs.
  3. Visit to the town of Calkiní and its old church from XVI century, magnificent example of Franciscan viceregal architecture.
  4. In Bécal you will witness the magic of creating jipi hats in the hands of one of the most prestigious artisan families.
  5. Arrival to Pomuch to taste its delicious bread and then visit a unique and very special place.
  6. Return to Campeche.
